Create a new channel just for username?

So, the channel I currently use is one that I've had for many years now for my general Youtube browsing. Now, I'm going to start doing gaming videos (mostly Let's Plays, tutorials, and such). However, the name of my Youtube channel (which I created years ago) doesn't exactly match the username I use tend to use online and in games today (a.k.a my username on this site; it's similar but not the same). So should I make a whole new channel with my newer name or just work with what I have and start branding my current channel? (I only have some 37 subscribers, as I didn't do much content creation before this. So it's not like I'd be losing a large fanbase by moving.)

Alright thanks, guys. I have my second channel up, and I'll start filling it and branding once I start producing vids. Still going to use my original channel for personal browsing, since it has all of my subscriptions and favorites and what not.
 
I made a new account just for my username. It is worth it. Get a name that people will know that is you. Have originality. Not sure if thats the correct spelling though :p . So yeah its up to you :)
 
100% go for it. It’s worth it, particularly if you want a good name/easy to remember /closer to your online handle.

I had 140 subs when I decided to do it, and don’t regret it a bit. If you are actually planning to ‘make it’ or attain any particular following of subscribers then the earlier you do it the better. Make a redirect/new channel video and half of your subscribers will move over anyway.
 
Yes, you could definitely do both. I would use the current one you have, delete any un-gaming related videos you have and start fresh. It's like a new YouTube channel but with your same subs and what-not! :p
 
not worth it, anyway you can change your username by linking your youtube with google plus :)
 
I'd highly suggest making a new channel for a new name. Granted, I refuse to have a Google+ account so that's not really an option for me.
