CPM Question

GamingHappens

HEY LOOK! a distraction!
so basically this is just a quick question because I have a good idea that this is bad but you never know, so pretty much I watch a lot of TB podcasts and he was discussing about networks and such and he brought up the fact that if you're making like a $1 cpm that is basically the lowest you can be in a network and its kind of like your que to say bye to it and at first I was making around $2-3 cpm and I was fine with it but when I recently looked i'm actually at $1 for this month and I'm just wondering is it normal around this time? because I know they fluctuate during different times of the year or is it basically time to exit stage left because really the network gives me nothing and I'm not under any contract.

Network does not affect your CPM. Only your audience and content. If you change a Network or choose Adsense, your CPM will stay the same because your audience won't change. Again - all networks use Adsense as a base for filling ads. So it's not the network but the audience that determine your CPM. Period.

"all networks use Adsense as a base for filling ads" that's not completely true, some have dedicated sales teams.

Networks can not affect the CPM that shows in analytics, that's the proper myth.
The revenue for any adverts sold/ served by MCNs does not show in analytics, they would need to provide you with reports on that revenue separately.

So that CPM you are seeing in analytics is down to Google alone meaning it would be the exact same, no matter what the network or no network at all.
Your network could be selling a portion of ads, but that won't affect the CPM value you see in analytics which is based on Google sales alone.[DOUBLEPOST=1440502797,1440502675][/DOUBLEPOST]
It's not un-true that some networks have large ad teams, looking at FullScreen's job site right now, they're currently hiring for 17 positions in sales.. that's just hiring.

But is would take a sales team of hundreds to make a reasonable impact into a large MCN's ad inventory considering YouTube's high minimum rates & campaign budgets.

So, if you are looking for a such "ads by a MCN" and you are not 1 million subs channel, you can forget about this option as 99% channels on YT. Your revenue will be generated only via AdSense ads.[DOUBLEPOST=1440503023,1440502913][/DOUBLEPOST]

I believe, that is exist, but it's so rare on YT, that I believe we can consider it as a non existing.

So you're saying basically networks can earn money from ads sold serverd by them but they're not showing in analytics? So they can basically hide this? And earn all the money for themselves? How can we know a network is doing this? How much % for example do your network takes on this and do tell your networks members when you do this? This is HUGE, I didn't know that so now maybe I know how come my revenue is very low compared to my views, is it a reason maybe? My network is ripping me off on this ads sold/serverd by them?

If you are not big enough, I believe it is VERY unlikely that you have had this additional ads by MCN.
