Copyrighted content / takedowns / blocks

Hallo Everyone

I have a few quick questions about music usage on YouTube and copyright, hope someone can enlighten me a little bit, I am confused :)

I found two tracks on YouTube that I would like to use in my videos.
I contacted both artists/publishers whether I could use them, told them I'd even pay for it etc. One of them is famous, it's "Muse", the other one not so much... "Illenium/Chainsmokers". Even though I asked 2 times within 4 months, I never received answers.

I now uploaded some testvids containing these two songs.

After an hour, both videos are still online and the sound is still working.
The video that I used the "Muse" track in, has a note:

includes copyrighted contet (see picture below)

When I click on that, I get these details (see picture below)
imgur.com/AdQmV72

What excatly does it mean? I get that it's monetized by the owner, I won't make any money. No problem, all I care about is, will it ever get muted? Will it ever get taken down? Can I use it like this now? Thanks a lot for an explanation.

The second video is similar, although for some reason it gets blocked in Germany.

Same questions as above....

Thanks a lot for your help in advance, this whole copyright thing is confusing.

cheers & have a good day everyone

The first one, essentially they are allowing you to use the content without taking down your video, etc. but they are monetizing it and making the money, but you get to keep it.

For the second one it's just blocked in the listed country/countries, you may noticed if you try to watch a blocked video it won't let you, but if you were to visit another country, and try to watch it, you'd be fine.

You shouldn't need to worry about them being taken down, however be careful with copyrighted content in general and I'd highly recommend staying away from using it without permission, as how it's dealt with varies, some might issue take downs and you might get a strike, where as in other cases, such as these, it might just be monetized or blocked in 1 or more countries, but still playable.

Not that theoretically the copyright holder could turn these matches into strikes at any time.

Hi, the most simple thing you can do is to not use copyrighted music.

There is loads of great music which is free to use if you do a bit of searching, in fact, youtube has its own library which you can access from the video editer page for your video under a tab called music.

Even if a band gives your permission to use music (which is unlikely) you can still have issues as it is the record companies/ sub-contracted anti-piracy companies that will be the ones who file claims. The best option is just use free to use music.

A good website to start looking at is The Free Music Archive

Really appreciate the fast answers, thanks a lot guys!
Usually I only use sound with which I'm sure that no problems will occur. I even have a subscription at epidemicsound.com for that reason, and you guys are right of course, they (and others) do have amazing sound, there's not really a need to use any copyrighted stuff.

I was just particulary asking for these two tracks because I created two videos for "friends only", where I used these tracks. And it fit perfectly, especially the one from Muse. And I was thinking about uploading them anyway. That's why I asked if there's still a chance to use it.

So, to put it in a nutshell, worst case is, if I used both tracks... and they would decide to take it down and put a strike on me as well, I'd get two strikes and both videos removed. That will in no way lead to my channel being closed or something like that if I googled that correctly, is that right?

Thanks!

@RedFox

You're signature is awesome :up2:

Well two (copyright) strikes don't terminate your channel but a third one (in the same expiration period) will do. They furthermore come with other penalties like limiting uploads to 15 minute videos.
