If you cover a song, are not with a network which has a deal with the publisher or label of the artist who wrote/released the song, and you haven't obtained a cover performance/broadcast license, you won't be able to monetize the song on YouTube, and may be subject to a copyright strike at some future date.ok so apparently i cant monetise this video due to copyright? iv seen loads of videos on youtube of people singing songs but still show ads
Yes. Any copying, use, performance, etc., of a copyrighted work without the permission of its creator is legally a copyright violation. You can always contact the artist and get permission and prove to YouTube that you have that permission to use it; make sure the permission you get covers commercial use, or you will be back at square one.ah damn that sucks :/ i didnt realize somebody else actually singing the song would class as copyright
Not sure exactly what you mean by that?lol im sure the script would reply to me![]()
If the band is with a record label, then it is the label which has to give permission; when they take on a band, they own the rights for the duration of the contract.Well the song that the guy is singing in my video is originally by a band called the script, really famous, they won't give me permission lol
