Copyright question about covers

Hey guys,

I'm new to making covers and I thought:

How can you legally make a cover without getting in trouble with the record label?
Can you legally use a backing track, if not, how can you solve that?

Thanks for the support :3

It really all depends on which record it is. What most YouTube musicians do is either get legally produced karaoke tracks (which are usually required to be paid for) or they play it themselves on whatever instrument they know how to play! Usually karaoke tracks are tricky because for the most part, the best case scenario you are looking at is your video just being recognized and not taken down (but in those situations you can't monetize your videos if you are interested in that). So the two options to do it completely legally is play the songs yourselves if you are able to or pay for the karaoke tracks from professional backing companies.
