I have recently read this: If your work is for educational purposes, then use of copyrighted material falls under the "Fair Use" provision, which allows reasonable use of copyrighted work, without permission, for research, criticism, or education. A notice at the beginning or end of your production giving credit to copyright owners for their work is usually sufficient. Be aware, however, that not citing sources, or attempting to pass off copyrighted material as your own work, is not considered "fair use." It is plagiarism and can result in harsh penalties.

So seeing as my lore series will technically be educational, does that mean that it falls into fair use? If you don't think a lore series if educational then look at the Elder Scrolls lore series done by ShoddyCast, it is classed as educational. So basically i just want to know if it would be fair use or not?
 
I think it should be fair use. As long as you put the videos in the "Education" category and make sure to cite the sources plenty of times and maybe even link them, then you should be perfectly fine! Good luck! :)
 
That depends pretty much on the exact way your videos are made. Just having educational purpose is not necessarily sufficient but a judge may decide it is depending on the individual case.

How do i cite them? Can i put something in the description or something if so what would i put?
 
It could also help if you put in an overlay like stating the source in your lower thirds.
 
Watch Leafyishere and you will understand :) You should talk more than you show copyrighted materials! Original materials >>> copyrighted materials = should be fair use

Ok i haven't ever watched leafyishere, does he use images of Google?
