Hi Guys, I am Buttons.

This issue has always boggled me, to no end.

Recently I have been watching bigger youtubers (Markiplier, Pewds) also a smaller channel, and in a few of their videos music comes up and starts playing. They then yell about it and change the music.

Now I know there is no 30 second rule on music. How is it they are using the music and not getting taken down or getting strikes for only using a small portion?

Youtube needs 8 seconds to process the song to match it (same way Shazam does it on your phone). So you can use 7 seconds of a copyright song and not be claimed. It's risky doing it, but I've gotten away with it before. Usually aim for 6 seconds instead of 7 to be safe if you're at all worried.
