Copyright Infringement Question (Very Important)

I am thinking of making a new series and i want to use cuts from another YouTube video. so afew questions. (The series will be based around the history of games)

1. Is this leagal?
2. Whats the best way to rip a video without disrupting the already fractured audio?
3. is it leagal to use the audio without the video or vise versa?

To find the video i'm talking about search for "maze war on xerox alto". should be the first one to come up, has about 90k views as of posting

I would prefer if people with experinece in this area commented only, I understand the want for input, but this is dealing with laws that i may not know even exist.

No you cant really use anything these days without it being copyright infringment

I would say first make sure the videos themselves don't contain any copyrighted material, and next make sure you get the permission of the people who made/uploaded the videos you want to use.
