Copyright Claim Cannot Monetize Video

I received this email the other day:

"Due to a copyright claim, you are no longer monetizing the following YouTube video. It is still playable on YouTube, but the copyright owner could choose to show ads on it."

This video was monetized before and I was making money from it. Does this mean I lose the money I previously made, or does it mean the claimant is just now making money from it?

Help is appreciated as there is big money on the line.

All revenue generated from the video at this point on will now be directed towards the claimant, current earnings across other videos will continue as usual. You should still keep your previous earnings from before the claim was issued. Sometimes the claimant will opt for a revenue split between you two, but that is doubtful. If the video is generating a ton of money, and some or most of the content was made by you (like you used their music in a clip or something) it may be wise to contact them on your own time to organize a revenue split of further earnings.
