can you copy people in there ideas but put your own slant on it? I ask cos im fresh out of ideas so i look for inspiration from others and i like the things they do so can i do what they do but make it my style sort of thing?

I think so, I mean it's difficult to do something truly original on YouTube nowadays due to the huge amount of content. So as long as it's your own spin, you should be okay.

You can't copy original works, such as their dialog, trademarks, descriptions, tag lines, etc. Many things are protected under US Copyright Law. Most channels it appears do not enforce copyright protection, but some will. Yt also has TOS and Community Guidelines, if you are misleading and impersonating another channel that channel can have you striked.

Remember, three strikes and you're out. If you're out of ideas, Yt may not be the best line of work for you - it's a creative endeavor that needs a constant flow of fresh and unique ideas.

To grow on Yt, it's best to have original ideas and chart your own course, not be a cheap rip-off of someone else's work. Take inspiration, but don't copycat tags/title/descriptions/scene by scene - it's asking for trouble.[DOUBLEPOST=1482974857,1482974747][/DOUBLEPOST]
Yup. Just be sure to credit who inspired the video

Crediting a work does not give you any protection under Copyright Law, nor give you permission to use another's work. Otherwise I can just republish Harry Potter on Amazon and "credit" J.K. Rowling.

Think you misunderstand i dont want to make a carbon copy of other videos i want to do something similar to their channel but do it my way. will it work. No copyright infringements or anything like that.

He's not meaning to copy someone in their entirety. But more so, use an idea someone else has and put his spin on it....which is completely okay. Just like with most trends on the internet, people use it and put their spin on it.
And of course if you build off of someone's idea, you credit the original.

Oh No, I'm so sorry! We have reenacted a lot of your videos, because my boys love them so much! We give you credit each time, but didn't know it was against the law! We are so sorry, we won't reenact anymore :)

I know you credited us it's cool I'm happy the re-enacts helped to get some views. I'm actually really ticked off at all the scammers and spammers on the platform - what they do is scrap the title and description, including our channel name and the kids names, and put it on their own videos, sometimes completely irrelevant videos nothing to do with it. Sometimes it's scene by scene re-enactments, but they don't have the brain power to even come up with their own description. That's what I'm ticked off about, the blatant abuse of elements that are protected under law. I've engaged a copyright attorney to get a plan of action going to protect those elements that are protected - name, description, dialog, stuff like that. We'll be working that hard the next few weeks. Then will have a strong legal basis to issue DMCA takedowns for anyone breaching copyright. Nothing will make me happier than taking as many scammers off the platform as possible.

And that's not including the over 50 blatant thefts of downloading our videos over the last few weeks that have consumed so much time issuing copyright strikes.

Oh good, I was hoping you weren't upset,Thanks so much! Oh My! I have seen a lot of those.. I have also seen quite a few other spammy channels play your videos :/ So sorry that is happening to you. I hope you get everything settled! I would be upset too, especially using my kids names. With your channel growing so quickly, I imagine it will only get worse, so hoping for the best!
