Converting digital camera into direct feed on Mac

Hey peoples of the internet,

I want to use my new camera as the source of video for my new youTubes, but I can't figure out how to have it stream through my laptop so that I can see what I'm recording. desperate for this to work out, can anyone suggest some recording software that can take a digital cam and use it as a webcam of sorts?

I don't know if this will work, but what about a HD capture card like the Elgato?

why have it stream right to you computer just shoot it and sync it in editing? it's a slightly cheeper way then buying other gear. Mostly everything has a recorded audio track just sync it with a clap or something like they do with movies.
