Condenser Microphone Questions?

I probably sound really stupid for asking these questions but I know nothing about mics...

But I'm currently using a tiny mic that plugs into my iPod Touch that was only around £1 from amazon. But the sound is actually really clear and pretty good quality!

I was thinking of upgrading to a better mic, but I have a few questions:

1: What would I plug a microphone into?? Would I plug it into a computer and record the audio then record the filming seperatley? (because I don't really want to do that.) Could I plug it into my camcorder?? (It says it can fit "HDMI" cables so would any microphone fit that? Apart from the iRig, (I want better sound quality than that.), are there any proper mics that can plug into my ipod?

2. What do most people record with? On YouTube you can never see what people's mics are plugged into? Do I have to buy a separate device or what?

3.) Could anyone please recommend me a mic that has perfect sound? (under £100 if possible.) Withe better quality than my excising mic. (check my newest video.)

Sorry if I asked too many questions but I would really appreciate it if someone could help! Thank you!

There are a lot of microphones that do a lot of different things.
HDMI does video and sound, it does not record sound.

You can get condenser mics that record via USB to computer, XLR and some even 3.5 "which I wouldn't recommend"
I currently use the Audio Technica 2500 USB Mic
If you check out our channel we actually recorded the song "On the Floor" with this microphone. We recorded all the vocals and the guitar with this mic.

This mic is running for 30 bucks on Amazon now which is stupid... I spent 100 lol. This mic plugs into your computer via USB.

However I am upgrading to the Audio Technica 2020 XLR Mic here soon to get even better quality. BUT I am very very satisfied with the 2500. We sell professional voice overs and record some music with it.

As for microphones that plug into your Ipod, I don't think you'll find any good condenser microphones to use but you can find some pretty decent 3.5 pin mics that would work. But I would still recommend going to your computer so you can have more control.

Samson c01u, picked mine off ebay for £40. I bought a pop filter and a wind filter. You will need to edit some of the audio settings but if you check out my latest videos you can see the sound quality! (Chose my minecraft videos if you are going to watch it for the sound quality)

Depending on what the input socket the mic has generally it should be able to plug into laptops and computers. Maybe a camera or camcorder if it has an audio-in part. HDMI is an output, it connects to the tv to give visual communication.

I've seen a lot of people using the rode videomic, as I do also :p There are many others out there though, some don't even use one.

I'd recommend the rode videomic, it can be found for under £100, it is super awesome when you use it properly :)

There are actually a number of mics that plug straight into "i" devices. Here's one.

Sorry for the late reply but thank you all of you for all your help, it was really helpful!

I'm going to get a USB mic (Probably the AKG perception) with a pop board. Thanks again!
