I've Got It
Hey all! I was wondering if anyone had any good tips for someone starting off with commentary?! I'm a gamer who just got a decent mic and I'm super excited to put it into use, however I can really use any advice from people who know more about it. I feel like I ramble on too much or that my whole commentary is scatter-brained, but I don't want to work off a script because my memory is horrible lol. Any tips/advice is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Hey Crash, nice channel, Im new to this area too. How were you thinking of recording your commentary? Like either while you record your gameplay or after you have edited the video add the commentary later?

Thanks for the replies guys! And Benefactor, currently I'm editing first and then commentating over it! I want to start commentating while recording the gameplay, just not sure if thats better? Or easier? It also doesn't help that I don't have recording software at the moment lol. So far I've been using a USB to grab all my footage off my ps4!

Well I record after too just because generally what I am going to talk about doesn't always have to do with the gameplay. And editing after means that I can edit my footage nicely. Cut out all the downtime of me respawing and making my way back to the action. Similar to your Black ops videos right now. If you did commentary while recording you might want to keep those in so you stay in sync with your gameplay.

At the end of the day really what works best for you is what you should do. All depends if you want to do commentary on the gameplay if so that would be better to record while you play but if you were going to talk on other things maybe after is the way to go. Just give both ways a go as see what feels better.
