Comedy Videos or Covers?

I've started trying to make sort-of comedy videos on my channel in order to increase the frequency of my content. However, I could be making song covers instead. Please could I have some advice on what to make.
I started off making original songs and music videos. While other YouTubers slowly build up a solid fanbase, I got almost all of my 1k subscribers from one video that was featured on Comedy Central.
No one seems to like my comedy videos, and I'm almost losing the motivation to make regular content rather than just extremely irregular songs. What should I do? Should I try weekly covers, or could anyone give me ideas for comedy videos. Or should I give up on the regular content and just make original songs...

Make what you personally like making. That will shine through in your videos most off all. If you enjoy comedy then make them but if you enjoy covers make that. If you enjoy it, people will enjoy it. Just make sure you don't force something because that's not good for anyone.

That's the advice I give to other people. I guess I've just never thought of giving it to myself...
Thank you very much!

Is there any way to combine them? Could you do covers or maybe parody songs that include some funny content within the video? You have a great base of subscribers to start from.
