The Dark Heart of My Little Pwny
Being a gamer is still a little bit of a stigma in some circles -- especially those dominated by older generations (i.e. anything with people over the age of 40 as majority.) As a result, the Maine Republican Party decided that they'd criticize a Democrat candidate for Maine Senate for her World of Warcraft playing and some odd things she'd said on social media.
Certainly some of what she said sounds sinister, of course anyone who makes themselves aware of the games in question there's nothing even scary about it.
It's important for gamers to acknowledge and understand how the rest of our culture sees them; but this isn't exactly an example of that. This is an ill-thought-out campaign by a political party designed to slime a political opponent (the incumbent Republican she's running against disagrees with the campaign, to his credit.) However, since the age gap in the legislature from their electorate is in force, it's interesting to note that young voters may look on this newsletter and snicker.
