Closed Captioning

Oi,

I just wanted to turn you on to this vid:
. Essentially it explains that YouTube is indexing all the words that are in your videos' closed captions. In other words, if you close caption your vids you'll essentially have everything said in your videos tagged/indexed, resulting in your vids appearing in more search results.

It's a pain in the a**e to close caption; however, I think it might payoff in the long run, not only because of better search results, but also because YouTube is so international! And there are a lot of people that are hard of hearing.

Wow nice video and how interesting, I will definitely be utilising this with future videos. Does it work well without being like this "whatever keywords" ? Say I search whatever keywords in the search bar without them but it is like that in the description?

I think the quotes eliminate any searches where single entries of any word in your phrase appears. E.G, if you search "hot dogs" then only results with both words will appear. Without the quotes, anything with either word appears.

hi!

nice video!
I am writing me universitiy thesis about that topic. which influence does closed captions have for the ranking and I would like to detailled ranking test.

Did you collect more experience about the CCs?
At the moment I am thinking about which kind of test makes sense.
(how many videos, public or private, testing at one time or for weeks)

Best regards
Stefan
