Cinema 4d Question

Daily Vlogs on a Daily Basis!
Hey everyone,

I am new to Cinema 4d. I have done some basic modeling but am a tad lost when it comes to modeling things that aren't basic shapes.

For an upcoming video we are hoping to model a Goomba and I'm not too sure where to start. I've searched for tutorials and all the sort and can't find anything. If anyone can point me in the right direction or even a tutorial that breaks from the basic shapes, I can tweak it and figure it out. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Mike

I'm mostly a Blender guy, but I've done a little work with C4d back in the day. I'm a little rusty, but you should check into NURBS. I'm pretty sure you can adjust the number of vertices of an object, then push or pull the vertices and its almost like molding with clay

Ughh I feel so stupid lol. I know how to model with the basic shapes and use the boole tool and that's about it.
Would you do it in blender the same way? Or is that completely different?

so would I place a basic Sphere into a HyperNurb and I should be able to mold it? Or am I doing something wrong?

The concepts are pretty universal. The main difference is the UI and some of the tools. I just pulled up the photos of a Gumba and it would be super easy to take a sphere, pull the top of it up a bit, and then take the ring around the middle, scale that out a bit, and finally take the bottom of what used to be the sphere, and push it up into the body. There's the body of the gumba right there.

Crikey, I don't know why I didn't think about this sooner. YOU NEED GRAYSCALE GORILLA. He is basically Video Copilot for C4d. Awesome, funny tuts. GO. NOW!

Oh sweet, that is perfect! I will jump on that after I figure this out.
I have one more question lol. What tool do I use to mold it after it is in the Nurb. I think if I can get that straight I should be able to get this done.

I'm looking for that now. In blender its almost like a paintbrush tool that has different levels of weighting as you move one or more vertices...

I have it all set up I just don't know what to use to mold it =X Sorry I don't know the interface fully yet. I'm on GreyScaleGorilla now looking around. Thanks again for pointing that out!

Yeah, I think I had my nomenclature off since its been so long. However, search for the keyword "sculpting" and you'll find what you're looking for. I think the sculpting vid on this link will do the trick - post this after the grayscale gorilla url: blog/tutorials/cinema-4d-r14-quick-start-tutorials/

Alright i'll jump on that, I'm still having trouble finding it lol. It looks like i'm going to have to rely on tutorials for now.
