Choosing "good" keywords

I've Got It
Just started using Tubebuddy and I've figured out how to search for well searched and well used keywords. However, it gives a warning that these are too competitive and actually aren't that good...so what keywords should I be looking for then?

You are looking for keywords that cover your content, Keywords that people will actually search for and keywords that indeed aren't too competitive. To give an example:
You've made a cute video of you cats playing. The keyword cats is extremely competitive. Lots of people will be searching for it, but there are also a millions videos already using this tag. So you need to define the tag more. Playing cats is more specific and will already have less competition. Black cats playing or Scottish Fold cats playing is even better. It describes your content more accurately, which means that if people are specifically looking for that content, your video is quite likely to pop up.

I hope this explains it a bit!

Be sure to participate in competitive keywords as well. TubeBuddy shows that it will be competitive for you to reach high on search rankings, but it can still be useful for placing into suggestions. Goal is to place yourself in both. With 500 characters, you have plenty of potential tags to hit.

Thanks for that. It makes sense, but the bit I can't get my head around is how putting in less searched keywords would bring in the same or better results than popular searched terms.

I'm not saying you shouldn't do the popular terms as well! As PictureFIT mentiones above, it's actually best to use both, just fill up the whole 500 words :)

Its not only about finding the keywords with less competition but you also need to make sure that the keywords you find has a good amount of search results because if no one search for the keywords no one is going to find you.

I use Tubebuddy to make my keywords, Tubebuddy will rank my keywords, and Tubebudy can show you what keywords are trending and what keywords are made by our competitors. so I think it's very nice to use Tubebuddy and I am recommending it for you.

Couldn't have said it better myself. That's the name of the game. Going for angles that you can be competitive in. Being specific and not broad. Great reply Dutchie!
