Cheap, good quality editing?

Hey ho.
What editing software gives the best results for the cheapest price. Currently I just use the free Windows Movie Maker. Random fans of silly sketches and my friends enjoy the videos but I do feel that more technically gifted Youtubers are put off by my production quality (or lack of). Any suggestions for software that wont cost all of my pathetic savings?
