I tried to make valid counter arguments on a youtube video.
Comment deleted for some reason. So I then made a comment stating "Toxic positivity. Do not trust the video". Again, deleted in a matter of moments.
Then I typed one word. Just one. I typed "Censorship". Comment. Deleted.
At this point it's very clear that youtube can't handle strong opinions. We know what's happening. People aren't that stupid. The more people are silenced the more it shows fear, the more people get angry (maybe not me as much, but others certainly), the more this affects youtubes reputation and causes it to suffer. Is this really the game you want to play, youtube? Where you live in fear which causes people to be angry because of the willful ignorance and conscious stupidity? People want honesty. There's two sides to every story, or more. Conflict is a good thing. It means people can get to the facts. The truth. When people are silenced that is prevented.
People are flocking to ticktock. Outpacing youtube at this point. Ticktock does censorship as well. But at least it's not pretending short vids are trying to explain anything meaningful. I do not use ticktock myself, but I can see why people would.
Now, it's time to have a talk about youtube. What do you people think censorship is doing? Lack of opinions. People not being able to be flawed. Living a lie. Being "fake" instead of "authentic". If the problem is google being on youtubes back then it's time to either discuss things with them or break free from their control. If the problem is youtube itself then it's time to get your act together. People are going onto the dark net just to have an opinion because of things like this. If you don't know what the dark net is, think of it as the shady underbelly where anything goes. It's exactly as it sounds like. My point is people are sick and tired of suffering in silence and living in fear because of censorship. HONEST vids are less common. The DISHONEST ones remain unchallenged. Why?
Censorbots aren't the answer. And when people can't even type the word "censor" without a comment being deleted (that was really all I typed), then you tell me. What does that tell you people? To me it says youtube is afraid of people calling them out when they try to silence others.
Here's the formula. Fear fuels anger. Ignorance fuels fear. Ignoring a problem doesn't make it go away. Avoidence of conflict breeds more conflict. The more youtube try to brush things under the rug, the more it damages its reputation.
Let people have a voice and at the very least I think youtube will get stable enough to remain up and running for a while longer. Continue to persist in the trap of toxic positivity and all that will happen is the death of the platform when it finally gets any real competition. If this is what happens with Ticktock then imagine what could happen if another platform has longer videos running on the site without the restiction of freedom of speech. I bet if that happened people would flock to it and leave youtube behind in the dust. Provided such a platfom actually doesn't do censorship. It can't be as bad as this, surely.
it's so bad that people trying to get videos up and running are being demonetized just for sneezing. meanwhile anyone with enough vids out already can show whatever they please and not suffer consequences for it. While I understand things aren't black and white, the "little guy" is being treated like it's a black and white matter.
If this continues I might stop using youtube altogether. It's not the toxicity. If anything I think that's important with keeping people honest. It's the deceit. The dishonesty. That's what bothers me, and many others too. There are many many people that think the same. Of course you might not see that in the youtube comments because youtube is too concerned about its own egotistic image. Wha's the truth here?
Can't even make a comment that goes "I disagree and here's danger" without a comment being deleted. If I beleive people can end up in life and death situations then why would a comment get deleted? It's not "my" hate. I don't hate. I'm not sad or angry or distressed. What I am is concerned. Concerned for people that suffer in silence. Concerned for people that are lied too. Concerned for people that can't have two (or more) sides to a story.
How many of you think youtube is crossing the line with censorship?
