Capture Cards that work with iMac?

unknown_user0032

I Love YTtalk
I'm heavily considering, when funds are available, purchasing a capture card since a good 90% of my gaming is done on xbox. It'll also help my channel since I have more popular/modern games on there that people may enjoy more.

However, having a Mac I'm a bit stuck. I don't know much about this stuff! Does anyone have any recommendations on a capture card that'll work with an early 2009 iMac running on 10.7.5?

I am fairly certain that the elgato will work. It is what I use, it is simple, and fairly inexpensive.

The Hauppauge HD PVR 2 Gaming Edtion cost less than the Elgato Game Capture HD, but the Elgato is far more simple, and easier to manage. Plus, the Elgato is only slightly more than the HD PVR. People have been saying that the Elgato also records better quality videos than Hauppauge's HD PVR.

Thanks chaps. Out of those mentioned, the Elgato is the only one that works with Mac.

At the moment I don't have the RAM to cope (needs 4GB, I have 2GB) but hey, if I can stash enough to buy the Elgato, I can stash an extra £40 to upgrade my RAM to a yummy 8GB.

I firget what its called but there is a capture card that saves videos to a usb instead of your pc and you just transer the videos later.
Its by AverMedia buy I forget the name :)

Do you have Thunderbolt??
If so, take a look at the BlackMagic Intensity Extreme.
Its not cheap, but its industry standard stuff, and records from your XBox, or anything connected via HDMI for that matter, brilliantly (audio and video).
I want to pick one up at some stage as well ;)
