Check my weekly guitar vlogs!
I'm close to buying a new camera and was about to go for the Panasonic HC-V270.The main reasons were the performance in low light conditions and the time-lapse feature. However, I bumped into some compact cameras and I'm taking them in consideration. For the case of this thread the Panasonic HC-V270 will battle against the Nikon S9900, which is a true competitor.

So let me describe where I will use the camera for. Most of my videos will be shot from a tripod. I don't have studio lights but they I might buy them later. I'm going to make guitar videos. I'll also record bands in pubs and jam sessions so the camera needs to perform reasonable in non-optimal (low) light conditions. I might do some vlogging in those situations. The same goes up for when I'm going to a music store to buy guitar related stuff. At home I will record my audio with an external microphone and Audacity. When I film bands or jam sessions I will use the microphone of the camera so decent audio is welcome. Both have time-lapse features which is mandatory for me.

I have to say that I'm a bit of a noob when it comes down to lenses, sensors and all that kind of stuff. The Panasonic is able to film in 60p whereas the Nikon films in 30p. Do I need 60p? I read that for fast sports and stuff like that 60p does a better job. Playing guitar results in some fast finger movements sometimes so 60p is more useful? On the other hand the Nikon is easier to carry around because it's pocket size. That makes vlogging easier. I'm pretty sure it results in more footage, both related to my YT videos and private photos and videos.

Which camera probably has the better microphone? What camera performs better in a non optimal lighted bedroom? I know those cameras are not super high end and I know approximately what I can expect. It's going to be anyhow a camera in that price range. So what's your pick of those for my purposes? Or do you suggest another camera?[DOUBLEPOST=1444687235,1444670841][/DOUBLEPOST]Thanks to your great input I decided to go for the Panasonic HC-V270. It should arrive tomorrow![DOUBLEPOST=1444690574][/DOUBLEPOST]@Riddikore Can you close this one? I made my decision and nobody else reacted. Thnx:thumbsup2:!
