I can't speak to that camera specifically, but at least with the DSLR line, it will split video after 10-12 minutes.
The reason for this is that writing the video out is a slow process - slower than the speed you're recording at. So it stores part of the video in memory as it writes things out. Unfortunately, there's a maximum as to how much can be stored.
The best solution here is to figure out what the appropriate length of time for recording is, and then pause, stop recording, and start recording again

And there is no way around this? So far as I can tell it splits around the 20-30 minute mark.
What the heck am I supposed to do if I'm filming stuff I can't stop?

Honestly, I'd check your camera manual for what the cap is. But are you doing such long takes that you need more than 20 minutes per take?

I shoot my videos in one long take. About 30-60 minutes depending on the length if the show. I just keep the energy going and keep moving along, I know when I got what I wanted to say on tape.
Then I have interviews which I haven't started putting up.
Luckily the one I did Tuesday didn't run over the limit, I would have been p****d. I got ahold of the guys who did the UGA Swim and Dive Harlem Shake video. ~37 million views! Insane!
