Canon 600D settings for photos

Heya!! I'm going to a wedding in two weeks and I'm going to take my canon 600D to take some decent photos, I'm just wondering if any of you know what setting to change to make the background less blurry? I do love that effect, especially when taking photos of one subject like my cat or a flower, but if I'm taking photos of a group of people and some of them are standing back a bit I don't want them to be slightly blurry? I mean taking photos of the bride alone it would look lovely but not with a group, I really hope I'm making sense lol!

If any of you could help I would be so grateful! I've looked on some photography forums but the answers are all so varied and involve changing so many settings! I'd like to be able to change the setting easily depending on who I'm photographing! I'm gunna stop blabbering on now haha!!!

Thanks! :)

Put the aperture to a higher f stop number (around 4-5 for some blurry background, and 8+ for all sharp) and more of the image will be sharp, but less light will get in so you will need to either make the shutter speed lower or bump up the iso :)
