Can You Send A Sony Vegas File to Someone Else?

Chaz

Just a sk8r gurl (or a gamer dude)
Hey guys! I have a question that I was wondering if I could get answered. I am part of a group and we are editing a series one of us has a slow pc *cough* @Joel Is InstantGS *cough* So he was going to edit it and I was thinking about rendering. Is this possible?

I think you can send a .veg files, but you need to be using the same version of vegas, so if you had 11 than they need 11 ( because you cant use an older version. ie, 10 can't use 11 .veg files.) But you also need the media files with it.

Sort of theoretically but you would both have to set up the project and all source files in the same file path on both systems so the program can reference them properly. Someone may correct me since I am not overly familiar with Vegas, but I don't think it is possible to run a network render - where another pc is used as a slave renderer.

You'll most likely will have to tell vegas where the files are on your computer, (since it'll probably say it can't find them because it isn't set to your files path.)

Man that sounds difficult but i assume we will catch on
Well depending if they changed it, in 10 that I use.

If media file is missing, It prompts me and asks what I want to do. I just say locate media files, and then with the window that pops up find the folder with the files and click them. (Its actually pretty easy)

But you'll need to have a same version, the .veg file and most important the media files.

Well older pro files can go into new versions right? but just not vice versa

You'll have to send the source files as well like stated above, what he'll have to do is have everything in one folder, then Vegas will complain that a file is missing, point it to the directory, then it will say that the other files are there as well and tadaa he has your project.

Yes, Vegas will tell you however that that file cannot be loaded into an older version again, so you can take a Vegas 11 file into 12, 12 converts it but it won't be compatible with 11 so keep back ups.
