Can someone make or teach me how to make a logo or background?

I have Photoshop CS6 but I am only familiar with the basics like restoring old photos etc. I would appreciate it if someone could help me make my own background or logo.

Search YT for tutorials. There are thousands of tutorials for Photoshop on there. They're going away soon anyways though..
