Can I use fonts in my youtube thumbnail?

I've Got It
Only just occurred to me a while ago, all this time I didn't know if this was allowed or not. And I'm still not sure.

I downloaded a font which is pretty much all I use on the thumbnails, and I'm just wondering is it ok to use any fonts for thumbnails.

If not will I have to change every thumbnail on all my videos?

Just make sure it is okay to use for commercial use.

The odds of being found out that you are using non-commercial use fonts are slim, but if you want to back yourself, only use fonts that are allowed for commercial use.

Even if it is allowed for commercial use, make sure to read the contract because they may be very specific about the commercial use limitations.

Realistically speaking, monetized video or not, you are most likely never going to get a strike for using fonts you shouldn't be using without permission. But you never know...

Thanks.

Hmm. Not going to take any risks. Probably gonna redo every thumbnail on my videos. Will take a while but potentially save me a lot of trouble.

Well, if you want absolutely zero risks, then yes you should. Just make sure to read the contract or terms even when it says "for commercial use". Some font makers require you link their site and such. These kinds of requirements are rather rare and usually coincide with the font being "free". Paid commercial use fonts, however, almost always have no such requirements of their use.

Thanks. This will be a pain but yolo.
