I've Got It
I have a bird video which is getting a lot of views, it's my most viewed video... and I see some people have stolen it from my YouTube channel. Facebook and twitter do not care.. they didn't do anything about it when I contacted them. I'm not happy with people stealing my content and not even giving credit or asking me if it's ok. I guess this is just normal and the way things are? Someone on twitter has my bird video and it has gotten 4 million views... no credit giving to the real content owner. I'm putting in tons of work into my channel trying to grow it and people stealing my content so they get get millions of view off of my video is upsetting.

You can try to take "legal action" on them. If they post it on YT put copyright claim on the video , if on Twitter or Facebook report the video. But if it comes to stealing , this happens to almost everyone that is popular or made a popular video, it just happens, you can try to minimize the damage, but I don't think you can truly stop it. You can always put a watermark on your video, but that can hurt your viewers.

I see thanks. I guess it's just the way things are :)

When you say watermark might hurt my viewers... how so? I created a logo for my brand/business and have that logo displayed in all my videos now in the bottom right corner of my video. This logo represents my brand... I don't see how this could "hurt my viewers"?? Thanks

Depending on placement and size of said watermark, it can become obtrusive to look at, and if you put small logo in corners ,that can be easily removed and posted on another site.

Like Weebster said, you can try to take legal action but that doesn't mean it won't happen again. It's just the way people are nowadays, doing the least amount of work and taking credit for someone else' hard work.

I have ContentID and I have almost daily matches with my videos re-uploaded. Some people simply believe if a video is on YouTube, it's there for them to take it and use it on their channels. Most of the re-uploaders do it for monetary reasons, so when I claim my videos, they delete the re-uploads. One guy got really smart and found a way to avoid ConentID so I had to fill DMCA notices for him (3 of them), and this is the best you can do (suggested by YouTube) if you find someone is using your content without your approval. Some of the re-uploads are fan videos, so they keep them on their channels, even after I claim them (mostly happens to compilations - i.e. they mix several videos in one).

It's a constant, constant battle. The biggest problem is that there isn't much incentive for these people not to try, they rarely get in any real trouble. The worst YouTube will do is suspend an account--big deal, they'll just open 100 other accounts. You can take people to court over it but you'll end up spending tons of money. Until there are more severe punishments it's going to keep happening and getting worse.

Sorry if this is an ignorant question... I'm very new to twitter. If someone wants to tweet my video on their twitter page and provide me proper credit couldn't they simply link the video directly to my channel (so people watch the video on my channel rather than Twitter?) by simply clicking the SHARE button underneath my video and putting that link onto their twitter? ... but then does it only show the link with NO image/preview of the video?

If by share you mean Retweet then yes they could do it, and it would show the exact same tweet as yours, as in the text and thumbnail/preview.
