Camtasia Studio - files too big

Hi All,

I use camtasia studio to record my video. I have to say that the tool is quite user-friendly and it easily allows me to record both my playthrough and my face and voice. The main problem though is the size of the files. 30 minutes of CSGO creates a camtasia file of 20-30 giga that becomes a 2 giga file in mp4/avi. I tried to change the codec but without success.

Is there anybody here using this software? I would love have some conversation about this tool.
Thanks!
Cheers,

yes but when I do it I get an error! that's why I would like to talk to somebody who knows this software. thx for the note.

Well I use MAGIX Movie edit pro for chroma key purposes, it takes 1-2 hours to render a video of 10-15 mins. But after its complete, it has HIGHEST HD QUALITY! Its more than 15 GB! But its worth! Then I import this 15 gb video into Movie maker, to make the size reasonable, and I get 500-600MB and maintaining HD quality video!!

So I guess I gave you some advice. Hope I helped you!
PEACE

Game recordings are generally large in their file sizes, especially with lossless programs like Dxtory, Fraps - and by what you described, Camtasia.

However, programs like Open Broadcaster Software (Free, and brilliant) and Action! Mirillis ($20-50) both record to beautifully small MP4 files with surprising quality. I've been using both Dxtory and Action for my videos, and I haven't been able to distinguish any quality difference - I have however noticed how much easier it is to deal with the recorded footage.
I recorded for 3 hours in 720p at 25fps with Open Broadcaster Software (while livestreaming) and the file size was 8 GB. I recorded for 5 hours with Action! at 1920p at 50fps and the end result was 50 GB.
Once more, both of these programs have NVIDIA hardware acceleration, which means that if you have a NVIDIA graphics card the recording lag will be completely unnoticeable.

If you want smaller files, they're definitely worth a shot. I haven't had much experience with Camtasia - but if my experience trying Dxtory with a H264 recording codec (x264) is anything to go by... you can't teach an old dog new tricks. Or something.

;)

As for editing / exporting, try lowering your video bit rate. I export using Adobe Premiere, but I assume Camtasia would have a similar bit rate feature. Most of the videos I've uploaded have a bitrate of 3000 kbps.

Thank you all for helping! Intelligic, when you say 8GB you mean the file size before rendering? How big was the file you uploaded on youtube?
