Camera.

I think questions about cameras have been asked before.

But I'm looking for something specific for my needs.

My channel is a gaming channel. So the primary source of my footage is captured.

I do some vlogging as well. I have an iMac, and a Nexus 5 phone. I have a tripod and smartphone adapter for the camera.

I'm thinking of getting a webcam for my iMac. The built in camera is meh. Any recommendations? I really don't need a video camera since all my recording is done within this room. I've only used the Nexus for filming handheld gaming footage, and it worked out very well.

I know a few people who use Logitech web cameras for doing their videos, this one is rather good:

but when you compare that to what your phone is capable of I dont know if it would be worth you getting:

This doesn't make a lot of sense, since "your needs" are the exact needs of everyone else.....Do a little research in this sub-category, you will find many topics about webcams...

On a side note, I have the C920 and it works good.

My needs aren't the same as others. There's plenty of you tubers that film outside of their room. Out in public. Or at other locations.

I'll try again looking through this forum.[DOUBLEPOST=1393859535,1393859415][/DOUBLEPOST]I should have been a little more clear in my original post.

Using the Nexus suits my needs for recording handheld gaming. For vlogging it's nice to see yourself while recording, so you can keep yourself within frame. The front camera on the phone is no where near the quality on the back camera.

That's why I'd like a better webcam.

Thanks for input!

I dont know of any webcam with a flip out screen or any other low budget camera, you could try a DSLR such as the 600D as that has one but youre looking at £400, there are a few camcorders that are between £100-£300 but I havent done any looking into those for a while now.

Don't need a webcam with flip on screen...you see yourself on your computer. :p

Lol I dont own one, I forget that is a standard feature of them :D I would go with one of the higher priced Logitech ones myself and perhaps get a USB extension lead so you can move around the room with it if need be :D

That was the idea...a webcam, and a usb extension to move around the room if need be.[DOUBLEPOST=1393879604,1393876006][/DOUBLEPOST]Well. Apparently this doesn't matter.

I found out that the latest iMovie does not support any external webcams. Only the iSight built into the iMac.

Previous version of iMovie did support this. Apple in their wisdom took this feature out.
