Camera Recommendations for Outdoor Videos

Hi everyone :)

So I've been uploading some videos of my gold prospecting outings over the last couple of months. I wasn't expecting much but I've had enough of a response to consider upgrading my camera.

Until now I've been using a regular point and shoot digital camera. It's not great I'll admit.

So I'll need something that is 1080p, waterproof, and preferably under $200AUD.

What camera would you recommend for my prospecting videos?

honestly, your not going to find anything that is good quality, waterproof, 1080p and under 200$ that will be much different from what you are shooting with right now, what is it about the quality that u currently are not liking to much? what would u like to be improoved, and what are you currently shooting with??

Fair enough. Just thought maybe I could get something second hand or something like that. Guess not.

Like I said, just using a crappy point and shoot digital camera which is only 720p. Its not horrible, but I just thought tat if I can make it better then why not. Better audio would also be nice, but not sure if that'll be possible without a separate mic or spending a lot more than I should.

Waterproofing isn't essential...just thought it would be an added bonus. I'll just have to be super careful not to drop it in the water, which I haven't done yet but I imagine is probably inevitable since I'm standing in streams while shooting much of the time.

Anyways thanks for taking the time to reply :)

not a problem, and if the only thing you are really looking for is the addition of 1080p, i would look at something like this. its cheep, and does 1080 :)
Fujifilm XQ2 Silver Digital Camera with 3-Inch LCD

as for a mic, im not sure if the point and shoot cameras will have an input for a tiny shotgun mic, but you can always pick up an external Lav mic
I have used this for all my wedding work (not on my linked channel, but on Fresh Finish Media) and it works like a dream for me
Rode smartLav+ Lavalier Condenser Microphone for Smartphones
hope that helps! :D

Honestly, any camera that has an adjustable iris or white balance is all you'll need for outdoor shooting. As far as waterproof goes, you won't find too much if you want high quality. But you could always look for cameras that you could get a cover or case for.
