Whenever I try to film a video my camera stops recording every 5-10 seconds and says 'movie stopped recording automatically' it didn't do this a month or two ago and it's obviously making recording videos an absolute pain. Any suggestions?

The camera is a canon rebel t3i if that matters.

If you don't have the red temperature icon warning you that it's overheating, it's probably related to the memory card. Try switching it out for another one and make sure you format the card with the camera before using it. That warning usually comes on when you're out of memory or if the card can't keep up with the camera-which means it's not fast enough. SD cards vary quite a bit no matter what speed they're rated at, so you may have a had memory card.

This is most likely correct. On the memory card it will have a number on it between 1 and 10. This is the "class" of the card. The higher the better. You should have at least a class 6 or so for your camera.

Your SD card might be no good.

Get a different SD card. I had the same issue with my Canon Rebel, and when I got a new SD card it records for like, forever.

Pretty much this ^ Try getting a class 10 sd card and it will make things easier for you.
