branching out on the same channel?

Hi all, I'm just after some opinions on an idea that I have.

I currently make videos about my hobby which is my treasure hunting trips. I have a few ideas about doing some videos about other things like camera reviews and also a few videos about powerful lazers. Do you think it would be a good idea to make these videos on my current channel or should I really be starting a separate channel?

That's a tricky one. But the name of your channel covers quite well on what you are doing.

I think it depends on how often you would like to do those camera reviews or whatnot. If you make it a special feature once in a while I would stick to one channel.

On the other hand, the subject is that much different that you could possibly create a new channel. But (I think) you have to do regular updates on that channel as well or else it doesn't make too much sense.

You are very close to the 1,000 subscribers threshold, which is where I'd think you might want to think carefully about what your "brand" is. I might try a new video, with an introduction about why you're branching out, what you'll cover, etc., and solicit the opinions of your subscribers/viewers, and see how the video goes. I wouldn't want to alienate your existing viewers (and I say this as someone who does just about everything you can imagine on his channel, but I've done so since the beginning), especially since you seem so specialized, but it may be worth a shot.
