Black bars on the edges! Need them gone!

Posting Mad!
Hi-ho everyone! Need some help! How do I remove the black bars from the edge of my videos? Youtube use to automatically ask if you wanted them removed when you were uploading but it seems they have removed that feature. How do you remove them manually? Thanks for any help you folks can provide!:geek2:

Do you mean when like a game has a 4:3 ratio? That's when you whip out a decent background for your video, thats what we do.

You mean on the left side and the right side?

You can't exactly get rid of them, since you are recording in standard definition (4:3) and thus it doesn't fit the 16:9 frame that is actually the standard now.

What you need to do, is change the way you record so that the footage you get is in 16:9. That way when you process the videos you don't need to do stuff like cropping or stretching to make it fill in the black spaces.

One thing that I see people do is make a second layer and cut out two slices of the sides of the video. Then move them over so that they fill in the black spaces. Then you can blur that layer out and it will look pretty good...

We basically put a frame around all our games as kind of a brand, our videos are instantly recognisable that way.

Yeah, I've made a frame before for that issue, then I just fixed it altogether by always recording in 16:9 format, but if you have a 4:3 screen, then as the others said, just make a background :)

Just out of curiosity, what editing software, if any, are you using on your videos?

I use windows movie maker..pretty basic stuff really. I will look at all the wonderful suggestions you guys gave and see if I can get those to work! Thank you so much!
