Best way to create a youtube background!

I`m going to be doing a tutorial series on this on my channel.

I use a program called Photoshop CS6, but it costs $800

I also sometimes use a free program called Paint.NET (what I`m going to be using in the tutorials )

Paint.NET is a great program for making youtube backgrounds, there`s also a programs called GIMP but its not as good.
