best FREE NO LAG game recorder???

Well no matter what software you get, your going to have to encode using a codec of your choice to shorten the file size. If that's either you recording in raw RGB video and encoding using a lossy codec or just compressing on the fly that's your call and depends on the software, I use Dxtory with the x264vfw H.264/MPEG-4 AVC Codec. But of course you need to tweak around with the settings to get what you want without losing too much if any quality. You gotta get up to scratch with all this stuff! It's not as easy as record, edit, upload.
 
Unless it compresses the files on the fly (uses a lot more power) then you are going to be getting big files. What are your specs?
 
Hmm the only ones I can think of are not free. I have used camstudio and auto screen recorder before. Then I eventually moved on to Fraps and Camstasia which are really more worth it.
 
i tried camstudios... i hated it, could not figure it out or find the saved files. but it did not smash in yoru framerate like fraps does. also you have to know that smaller files will cost you quallity and resolution.
