Beginner questions about ads on youtube

I know that there are 3 kind of ads, one is a video commercial, the second, something like a flyer that appears at the bottom of the screen, and the third, another flyer that appears on the right side of the video. What's the correct term for each one?

Can the video creator freely choose which one of those ads he can apply on his videos, or are they selected at random?

How much revenue do you earn from each of those 3 ads with a video that has, let's say, a 1000 views?

Thanks

You can select ad type in settings but I wouldnt change anything.
Less than half of your videos will likely show an ad (If you are monetised)
Its estimated that you will earn $1 per 1000 ad impressions.

The first one is called a "pre-roll", "mid-roll" or "end-roll" according to where it appears in the video's running time. The second is called a "banner ad", and the third is called a "card".

The income for each type, is according to what the bid is for each video on your channel by advertisers and cannot be accurately predicted.

I think the $1 per thousand is no longer an accurate prediction...as people as now seeing as little as $0.00 CPC in their Analytics.

Doesn't it also depend on the video Subject Matter?
The video's subject matter will determine the ad subject matter. Price is also dependent on highest viewing country; so that ads pitched to a US market will have a higher CPM than ads pitched to someplace like Malaysia.
