Be careful with Youtube Ad campaigns

Dear all, I just want to say when considering Youtube Ad Campaigns you have to be careful.

First of all one of my campaigns went far over the daily budget, which means I had to pay way more than I've set up.

Second, the video I promoted was quite a good video with fair Youtube ranking. after the first day of the ad, it completely destroyed the Youtube ranking, getting alsmost no generic views through the Youtube search.

I'm very sick of it, because it costs money, and the result is a mess...

Thank you for letting us know. I am sorry it turned out that way for you...
I don't know about the long term results, but for now I feel cheated. It was a good video where I got around 100 views a day through Youtube search. Now it's 0

I agree with you cat! Sometimes I do feel like I will waste my money because they don't give the exact amount of views and ranking :)
Well, before the ad I could give my rankings 6 out of 10. After the ad it is 0 out of 10...

Yeah I tried it out. I gave it the ol 5 dollar trial... Once it ended it was like an extra ten cents or something (not a huge deal) but the minimum I could pay to them was 10 bucks. Still not a huge deal, but just as annoying.

Did you actually get charged this amount from your card/account though? You shouldn't have, normally anything that gets over served is free because it's Google's issue not yours. Otherwise you may have set it to automatically continue for a certain time frame, if so it would have charged you per full view & click.

I had a similar problem. Campaign was set to $10 per day MAX, and AdWords somehow managed to spend more. Luckily it wasn't much but still shouldn't happened.

I've actually had a decent bit of luck over time as I've learned how to use their filters and such. My gaming channel only has two videos with over 50 views, and it's because I gave em 3$ each (I think anyway, it may have been $5, but this was months ago). You need to make sure that you're showing your prerolls on videos that potential fans of your content would like. If you just say "Alright, here's five bucks, give me fans please!" then you have no clue who is looking at it. Admittedly, engagement is usually very low, but you can optimize the ad for subscribers rather than viewers, and maybe that works (I haven't tried it just yet). I can understand why someone with a bigger channel would be a bit more reluctant to take the risk though

I'd say there's more to it than that. I haven't used it yet, but I plan to in the near future, and from what I've been reading it looks like it's a bit complicated to get it to work well, especially for small budgets. But are you saying that once you used up your budget it had a negative impact on you?
