Bang for your buck capture cards?

Hello all,

So I have recently gotten interested in recording some Xbox 360 gameplay and I almost bought the Roxio HD Pro capture card for $100 or so, but I left it alone because I knew that there were better cards out there.
I was wondering if there were any capture cards that are worth the money, and produce very good quality. I know Elgato is a very good system.

I bought the Roxio HD Pro, it's a nice capture card but i'm going to buy the PVR Rocket so I don't need a laptop/desktop to record, just a USB stick :)

I will look into that! How are you liking the Roxio HD Pro?

I really like it, because it was a cheap price so I didn't expect too much, but it's easy to use and it records decent quality. At least good enough to start with.
This is an example if you want to see the quality:

That's some good quality right there!

I would save up and get the elgato. I have one and love it. I have NEVER heard of somone that has an elgato and disliked it or bought something else instead.

Defiately go with the Elgato. It is one of the best capture cards on the market. Plus it has great software that allows you to live commentate and livestream without any third party software.

It always depends on if you want an internal one for your PC or an external one. Internal ones usually have lower latency so you could play off of the preview screen which often makes things a little easier for me at least
