Back after a year away from youtube

Hi everyone i am back on youtube after a year away. In my initial run i was posting weekly but realise I was not posting what i liked so i stopped just to figure things out before i returned. I have a weird channel name and the channel art wasn't the best.

I am back now and hoping to post content i love. I am here to ask for help on being effective while posting content i enjoy.

I like to react to comedy skips but also create my own. I havent added my skits yet but they are coming. For bow I'm trying to highlight things which are trending and suggest if its worth following the trend. I need help on attracting new people to the channel while keeping my retention high.

So how do i do that? Please help
 
If you are trying to follow trends, you would need a new channel every time trends change. Because the YT algorithm doesn't like a channel that deals in more than one niche, from what I've read. So you'd be starting from scratch every time a new trend arrives.
