Avermedia LGP problem

Hey guys!

I've just bought an Avermedia Live Gamer Portable to record videos. It works fine on PS3 and Xbox, but whenever I connect it to my PC, it says "No signal input". I connect the usb to my computer and the HDMI to the HDMI port, but it doesn't work. If the cables are plugged in and I restart my PC then there will be no icons, desktop, or that kind of stuff, I can only see my wallpaper, and when I pressed ctrl+alt+del I got a black screen and had to unplug the Avermedia and restart my PC. What should I do to record?
 
Wait, do you still have your other (Your Main) monitor hooked up? Because if so it's essentially just treating it as a second monitor and extending onto it, go into your resolution settings and change it to just duplicate to both displays.
 
Thank you, it finally works :)
However my problem now is that the recorded file doesn't save where it should. :/
