Autorefresh plus to boost views on video- a bit "blackhat"?

Hi everyone,

I saw someone via the Warriorforum say they use Autorefreshplus on Google Chrome to "create extra views" to allow for higher rankings. He sets it autorefresh every couple of seconds or so, up to 300 odd views.

Does this sound like it could very easily get you banned, & is it nearly as bad as "Buying" fake views?

Haha. Amateur youtube move. I use to do this when I first started youtube. My views would just be frozen for weeks on end. It's best to just let the view inflate naturally so you don't look like an idiot like I did. :P

Fair enough! I've read that it only works if you have your video as unlisted, then you publish it publicly after a few views. Not sure if I'll bother with it though now...

Even if you attempted to do this, getting more views on a video won't help you in search results and you won't get any comments, likes or viewer interaction. If you have a thousand views on a video with two comments and five likes you'll look really dumb. Fake views are like sub for subbing. You will make no progress on youtube even though it looks like so at first glance.

That's what I thought. I don't know how old this report I read is, but maybe it worked 3 years ago...

Well for the record, my organic ranking plan goes something like this:-
  1. Optimize: Title, Tags, Description.
  2. Put videos as a video comment on popular, relevant video.
  3. Post/embed/link to social media accounts
  4. Ping via a ping service.
  5. Bookmark videos with major bookmarking services.
I think I'm cautious enough to not bother with something if it's not clear if it will break the rules or not...

Anything else I should do to get traffic?
