Automatic Volume?

I've seen on a few peoples gaming videos, that when they talk the game audio lowers in volume and when they stop it goes back up. I asked before and its not an edit they do themselves so its something automatic that happens, but I have no clue how. Anyone have an idea as that would be pretty handy? :D

Whut owo
I would like to know this, if I would do something like that I would have to edit the volume myself xD

There's probably a way to do it in after effects using a slider adjustment thingy. I'll have a look in a minute and report back with my findings.

EDIT: If you use after effects, you can download a thing from someone called BakersTuts. It is a plugin for after effects called Syncronizer v3
If you make the audio input track your commentary volume and the adjustment slider the game volume and play around with the settings a little, you should be good.
If you don't use after effects, I'm sorry, I can't help you but for those who do, this should be good

In Windows, right click the volume icon in your taskbar and click on playback devices. Click the "Communications" tab and you can set it to reduce the volume of all other sounds by 50%/80% whenever it detects communications activity.

If you can't find it in your taskbar you can also go to Control Panel -> Hardware and Sound -> Manage Audio Devices

You can also just adjust the sound levels while editing, assuming that you record your mic separately.

I didn't even know it was possible to do this automatically I would have fading the background noise in and out lol. WOW. Great help, not that I'm a gamer but could come in handy in future
