AudioMicro Music Claim After Partnership With Network Ended

Michael

I Love YTtalk
Hey everyone this is something I have been thinking about recently, does anyone know what steps would be necessary where you have been partnered with a network with AudioMicro.com access and the partnership has ended where you are now using Adsense instead and you find a claim on your video regarding the music you used.

How do you deal with these claims? Surely they require some kind of proof and wont take "Oh I was in XYZ network two years ago" as thats all AFAIK you would have.

Has anyone experienced anything like this further down the line or know exactly what would need to be done?

Im not having the issue right now but it could be a potential issue for me and many others when they leave any network that provides access :) Nice to see you Reina.

You too, M! :D Done with my exams, so I'm kinda free once again! How's life been treating you? I hope that you'll be able to discover the solution to the issue eventually.

This was something @Tarmack commented on previously in a thread somewhere, can't remember where. There was no clause or anything mentioned in a network's contract or anything stated by AudioMicro that if you left a network partnered with Audiomicro that you'd be safe to continue using music you had in the past. I'd personally avoid AudioMicro because I've seen LordMinion777 have issues where his vids were claimed by them even under a network, not once or twice, it's happened to him several times and naturally it prevents you from monetising when your hit with a claim. They release it quick but still I'd imagine it's a pain.

Thanks Reina :)

Thats what I want to find out, how safe is one who uses AudioMicro music once they leave their network, how do they go about stating they had permission, surely they cant just take your word for it. There must be a proper process and it seems to me that proper process doesnt even exist.

My best guess is if they allow users to retain the music, to avoid mass content id annoyances your channel would be put on a white list to prevent content id from scanning for their music. However im sure you'd have to contact them and ask to be white listed (but I can't say whether their license grants you to keep the music after you leave the MCN, it's why I use only music i know i have a license for and that won't bite me in the a** if i ever leave a particular MCN).

I have asked two MCNs regarding this who both offer AudioMicro music and both of them have stated the licenses are in perpetuity and you are fine to use the music after leaving their network as long as you are not using uploading AudioMicro content without your own license after the contract has ended and that old content prior to the termination of the contract is perfectly fine.

I might ask a few MCNs what happens when it comes to this and see what they say because surely if theres a claim on a video with audiomicro.com music in it say 3 years away there must be a way to prove you were once a partner with an MCN who grants access to it.

@Shane.C do you know the process for when a partner has left a network say in 3 years time they get a claim on their video, how do they prove they have the rights to use it from back then? Can they prove it? Surely without proper evidence then they have no way to prevent the claim.

Yea but just because they say the licenses are in perpetuity doesn't mean that they actually are. If I were with any particular MCN i would get it in writing before using any of the music that if I leave i'd be able to retain rights to the video/music. Words are empty without signed contracts. What if audiomicro got a new owner or had a change of heart about it's rights, then anyone without a guaranteed written contract would loose out on the moneization to a lot of their content.

Well if that is the case then I dont see why anyone in the right mind would bother with using AudioMicro music nor see it as a benefit of partnering until it is written into the contract what happens once the contract is up. This is what I am getting at, it seems there is no way to prove you have the rights/license. Looking at it that way though doesnt that mean sites such as incompetech who offer music free and royalty free would be able to have a change of heart at any moment and start using content ID to place claims on every video using their music, none of us have it written in writing nor a contract with these websites.
