I've Got It
I am currently looking at three different microphones for my YouTube channel. The Audio Technica AT2020, Rode Podcaster, and Shure SM7B.

The Shure SM7B is an XLR microphone which I don't know much about, so I was wondering how much an XLR interface and cable would cost me.

The AT2020 and Podcaster are both USB microphones, so I was just curious to as which one would be better.

I make gaming videos.

AT2020 imo as it's a condenser mic, and it's USB as well. The sound quality is really great too.

Get that Podcaster! :D I wish I did.. I regret my Yeti every time I see the Podcaster now.. I wish I got that beastly mic..

I've been leaning towards the Rode Podcaster. It is also USB. I'd rather not buy an XLR interface and cable, so as long as it is better than the AT2020, that is the one I will get.

Make sure you get a proper shockmount and pop filter too! I'd recommend the Rode arm, getting such a nice mic and not getting anything to make it sound as good as it can is a tad silly ^^

The SM7B's quality would be wasted on YouTube due to them compressing it. If you want to know how it sounds watch Markiplier's videos, he uses it but he also uses it for other stuff than YT. The AT2020 is very good and allot of people use it, haven't heard any tests on the Podcaster before.

I was going to get an AT2020 but the price is out of my reach and the XLR is €90 and the USB is €160 on thomann.[DOUBLEPOST=1383397167,1383396993][/DOUBLEPOST]

Shockmounts aren't that necessary but with a Condenser mic and if you're doing vocals a Pop Filter is a necessary addition. ^^

And they're not that expensive, I got one for €15 on ebay, and they're usually that on Thomann. ^^

Oh they are fairly, there's quite a difference between the rode mic with the shockmounted stand and without the shockmount. not really needed if it's screwed to a wall not touching your desk or anything though

My Snowball does fine without it, but I don't make that much vibrations on my desk or move it and it doesn't move either, so it might be different for someone else. :p But they're getting chaper now, even a budget T.Bone SC440 which is a €60 USB Condenser has one with it. :)

Yea shockmounts are so cheap (pop filters too!) it's worth it even if it's just a tiny improvement ^^
