Audio recording on laptop?

I do a lot or audio and narration, using the Audio Technica AT2020 XLR version. I use the proper phantom power interface, and it runs beautiful using my HP pavillion desktop, I'm wondering if I begin using my HP notebook window's 8, will I see a significant drop in quality?

On a side note, I use the notebook for video editing, and it runs much more powerful than my desktop, and they're both great models.

P.S. Notebook, not netbook :) :)
 
If your notebook runs better than your desktop, wouldn't it be commom sense to use that anyways?
