Audience Retention Test

I'm curious to see how long you watch my video. Tell me at what point you stop watching and why. Please be honest but don't be mean, unless you really have to. ;) I'm just curious if you get board, don't like the music, etc

I ended up watching the whole video! I really liked the music transitions actually, they helped retain my attention. And it was nice you showed a lot of different places in one video. I think your editing is on point, it's dynamic and keeps things lively even though the topic of the video initially didn't interest me. Oh also I think it'd be great if you could add more drone shots, but that's probably because I desperately want one!

Thanks alot I appreciate it. If you want more drone shots I have a video that is only drone shots. Check it out:

Very nicely edited. I like how you overlaid the audio around 0:50 with images, it's quite cinematic. I'd say the images would need a bit more color grading, especially if you are doing a vacation-type thing and the goal is to show the nice places you've been. It's such a beautiful place and it needs more colors in my opinion.

Overall good work!

Yes I agree. I need to learn more about how to make it look better. I've tried a few times and it looks aweful with what I've done so I just leave it right now as I need to figure it out. Thanks for your honesty!

I feel like you should of started with those amazing vacation clips that are so beautiful. There's some kind of static sound that pops in and out at the start with the music that kind of removes the immersion. You have such beautiful shots, maybe don't show the map and instead just show the area and landscape. You had some really good traveling cut shots you could of used maybe closer at the start to set the tone as if you are traveling and then cut into those beautiful clips.

Hi!

Well... I'll be honest and say that I stopped at 9 seconds. I feel like I'm being so unkind when I say that! Still, you asked, so that's my honest answer. For the record, I tried reverting to my usual YouTube-surfing style, which to be fair is quite staccato. From that perspective I'm pretty much your average show-me-something-cool-quickly person with the attention span of a goldfish. It's unforgiving, but I think that's also what a lot of people do.

The reason for my giving up so fast is that it wasn't clear what I'd be watching. Perhaps this would be less of a problem with someone who was actively looking for travel-related videos, but since I'm not... the beginning didn't hook me in.

I don't get much in the way of clues about what I was going to get from the video from the title. It's something to do with Canada, but beyond that, I'm not sure. There's a lot *to* Canada, and personally I'm most interested in its rural scenery. That said, I'm unlikely to be going there any time soon, so a travel guide isn't helpful to me right now.

So yes, I'd say it's mostly to do with not knowing what to expect from the video, for me, and a lack of personal relevance.

I hope that wasn't too harsh and helps you out in some way. Your video and audio quality are great, by the way!

With all of that said, I've just watched more of the video. The music's fabulous; your wife introduces the video slowly and clearly (which is exactly what you need for most videos, I reckon. Not everybody is that clear; I should know, I've recently made a project of noting down who speaks clearly and who doesn't so that I can contact them for storytelling videos). She/you introduce what you'll be showing in the video before doing it, and then you take us on your journey, which is great considering that it looks sunny, relaxed and fun!

Overall, watching the video, I get a sense that you've essentially made a travel video that's very authentic, since you're showing what your family made of the experience of being at that vineyard - including your little one, and who's more honest than kids? :p I hope she managed to have fun despite Jaden not wanting to play!

I stopped watching before I clicked on it because it’s not something I’d click on. I’m not interested in Canada in the least and watching a video on it is not something I want to spend my time on.

This is outside the scope of retention rate, but this can also represent the population that sees your video and skips over it because they just aren’t interested in the type of video from what was gathered from the title and thumbnail.
