ATHEIST Q&A

Part of me is terrified this is going to end up in a flame war....

I'm doing a q&a video about atheism/my experiences as an atheist. Please ask me any questions you'd like, but please don't argue with each other. I won't reply to anything here in order to *attempt* to keep things sane (religion discussions make people crazy). However, I'll answer all questions in my video. I will like your comment to show you that I see it.

I think this forum has been pretty welcoming of people of all beliefs, at least that has been my experience. I'm sure everyone will conduct themselves respectfully.

My question is, was there a particular moment when you realized you were an atheist, or did your beliefs evolve over a period of time?

Why does it matter if you're atheist?

I ask, because it seems rather strange that you're doing a Q&A on atheism... It's not like there's much to ask. Atheism is literally just not believing in a god.

Is atheism the same as not believing in god? If so how is it different from agnostisism, I always thought that agnostics are the ones who simply don't believe in god and atheists are somehow more sure in their belief.

I think they are slightly different. Agnostic people tend to be a bit indifferent about the subject of whether a god exists or not, and most that I've met have the belief that some sort of higher being is out there somewhere. Whoever this higher being is may or may not care (or even know) about Earth and its inhabitants.. Atheism is the belief in no god(s) or higher beings.

Have you ever felt like you had to hide your atheism from some people? What are your thoughts about this one chance at life, and what are your thoughts about death?

Agnostic Atheist = Does not believe in God/s but not claiming that there is no God/s.
Gnostic Atheist=Does not believe in God/s and claims that there is no God/s.
Agnostic Theist=Believes in God/s but does not claim that God/s exist.

You may have answered this when answering the previous questions.
But do you personally have your own beliefs instead about life? even if they are more based on scientific evidence?
And on this instance do you have any thoughts on afterlife? Do you believe there is something more than the life you live now? Or do you believe when you die thats it? Nothing but black?

I often struggle with this concept even as an athiest myself because if there was nothing more after death, then how do you know what is happening around you now and remember what happened in the past? Because when you die all those memories are gone, all concept of time is gone and there is nothing. Its kind of one of those head exploding paradoxes I suppose. Cus if theres nothing then technically you would not witness the life you live because you wont remember it.
Kinda like waking from a coma or having brain damage when someone has no memory at all of their past or who they are etc.
very interesting when you think about it lol
