Associated website

I Love YTtalk
What is it? It says "Tell us if your channel is associated with another website. This will help us improve the quality of our search results and verify your channel as the official representation of your brand on YouTube." Can I just link my Facebook fanpage or the Google+ page that I was forced into? I mean I know I don't technically own Facebook but I do kind of own the rights to control the page? Has anyone used this associated website thing?

You can only link your own website. Because you have to verify you own your site through inputting HTML into the homepage of the website, which you can't do with something from another social media site.

Damn it! I was hoping to utilise this G+ in some way and figured if I could link FB or Twitter directly in annotations that would be nice. Thanks anyways.

I've used it, but I think it's mostly for businesses, networks and VIPs who want/need that extra authenticity.

Hmmm some people have suggested that you can use blogger in some ways but they don't explain it. They just say create a new page using blogger. I was hoping this would be much easier. lol

You can use it to link to your channel related website as long as you own the domain/site it is on then you will be able to associate the two and start linking annotations within the videos on the channel. I use it all the time with YTtalkTV for linking to the forums.

Yeah it looks like it could come in handy. The more I look into it, the more people are saying you can use Blogger, the problem is, no 1 seems to have a proper tutorial on how to do it. I've found the redirection links and stuff but don't know how to set it all up. Some people have even use Blogger to create decent websites wtf lol Let the learning begin... again >.>

I havent attempted it before but I might try that on a new channel and make a tutorial on how to do it :D

Okay so just an update, over an hour now and I can't find anyone explaining it properly. This is of course after searching for 30mins and getting distracted for another 30 playing around in Blogger, actually creating blogs and writing up an "About Me" page that I will release 1 day. xD

Yes, that would be awesome! lol It seems I'm not entirely the only person who can't figure out how to use Bloggers 301 redirecting properly. I'm sure a lot of people would want to use the asscociated website feature. I wanted to use it to drive a little more traffic through Twitter and FB, since I don't think many of my viewers know I have either lol Also I found out Blogger does let you modify the HTML code for the entire page even, so whatever code is needed from Google can be put in. Free website FTW. That rhymes... o.o
