Are my PC Specs decent for recording COD?

Hey guys,

I tried to record COD Black Ops 2 recently on PC, and lagged a bit. I don't know if this is my PC Specs, Fraps Settings, or if it had something to do with the fact that I was recording on the same drive as Fraps is installed and the game.

Here is a screenshot of my Fraps Settings:

Attached is my DXDiag for any of you Tech Geniuses to look at at leave some feedback.

Any help is appreciated, as I really want to get my CoD Series started.

Thanks,

Its the fact its the same hard drive, I had the same problem when doing it 'live', and when you try to play, recording it does cause to lag and will get you killed. I tried recording to a SSD and that worked fine. The thing that also worked the best was record it with no compression or quick compression on it, although you can get HUGE files, it usually will make it lag alot less.

I would play around with a few variations to see how it works for you. Also do you have a GPU that you bought seperately? The only thing I can notice in the DxDiag is some rubbish Intel integrated GPU. It might enough to play the game, but it won't buffer quick enough to do anything more than just play it. If that is the case your PC doesn't meet the requirements for Ghosts as well, so you will have no luck there. It is midnight, and im tired, so I may of missed it :p

I didn't buy anything seperately. What do you mean it won't be able to do anyhing more than just play it? If I use a seperate hard drive (I have a 1TB HD), and plug it in through the eSATA connector, should I be good?

Thanks!

tbh you could probably run CoD on the PS1 but anyhow, yes, I'd say your rig will be able to play it on high settings with no issues :)

For recording aswell though, having the Intel 3000 HD is going to start showing, it's meant to be an integrated card for web browsing and HD video viewing, not rendering or gaming.
With that said, CoD has low enough graphics that it will work well on high settings, but on highest or high with recording, you'll likely see some issues.

I'd recommend you buy a light dedicated card for ~$100 maybe a GTX 650 or similar

"Intel(R) HD Graphics 3000" Your problem. These on board graphics cards are terrible for gaming. You need a dedicated graphics card. Since this is a laptop you won't be able to upgrade the graphics card.

I tried recording on an external hard drive at 720p, and it worked fine. ;) I know that my graphics card isn't meant for gaming, but it works fine with COD and other games. I am buying a new PC soon, so it is all fine. ;)

If you guys have other input, please respond!
